We all love our annual vacation but there are those that never go too far from home and then you find the adventurous types that will travel the world. Wherever it is you want to visit, there will be numerous sources of information online at special travel sites. It is now true that increasing numbers of people carry out all their travel arrangements using internet web sites. The main problem is the convenience of it all and the huge savings that can be found using the internet.

This ease doesn’t always hold true however, and I have never been one to trust my entire vacation to a computerized travel site; it just seems a bit too strange to me. I’m old-fashioned and still want to sit down with a travel agent, letting them make my plans for me and I always feel like I will get better results than on a website. A travel agent will also fully expect changes to be made during the booking process and can be more flexible in their approach including when there are problems. I have never found it easy dealing with travel sites especially when I want to have a discussion with someone before I make a decision on something; plus on the very rare occasion you manage to get through to a support line, they are not as helpful as someone sitting in front of you.

If you do speak to someone, they may just tell you what you want to hear which is easy and what are the chances you will be able to find them? With a travel agent they are real and I can always go back to them and clarify points especially if something goes wrong. Although I do know someone who waits for the last minute cancellations to come up on travel sites and books them every time, saving a good deal of money. Admittedly, she has save a small fortune this way as she will just look at the sites and be patient until the right vacation comes up at the right price.

It would be nice to do this but my career does not allow for impulsive travel arrangements. I don’t doubt for one minute that by using a travel site can be less expensive as you can also get discounts on tours and car hire by booking this way. There are many advantages to using a travel site to book your travel or even do your research and I do use websites when researching where I would like to travel to, and for getting my facts together. I know it may seem unkind after all the help that my travel agent has given me but I know that if I have problems that need correcting when I return, it is easy to go along and see her to have sorted out.
